đ„ "Hell: The Greatest Fear Campaign Ever Sold"
What If Eternal Damnation Was Just a Control Tactic?
Letâs have a come-to-Jesus momentâironically.
Because itâs time we talk about the most weaponized concept in Christian history: Hell.
Now Iâm not talkinâ about your grandmaâs fire-and-brimstone revival tent or the cartoon devil with a pitchfork. Iâm talkinâ about the idea of Hellâhow itâs been twisted, sold, and used to keep folks scared straight for centuries.
Here's the hard truth most people donât want to hear:
The Hell you were taught doesnât exist in the Bible.
Not like that. Not with eternal torture, flames licking your soul forever, and some demon keeping score.
That version of Hell?
It was built brick by brickâlayer by layerâby Church leaders who needed a tool to control people.
And fear? Thatâs one hell of a leash.
đ Whereâd it even come from?
Letâs break it down:
"Sheol" in Hebrew just meant the grave. A shadowy, neutral underworldânot a torture chamber.
"Hades" in Greek meant the same thing: the place of the dead.
"Gehenna" was an actual valley outside Jerusalem where trash and bodies were burned. Jesus used it as a metaphor for destructionânot eternal torment.
So howâd we get from that⊠to the Devil roasting sinners over an open pit?
Two words: Power. Control.
Mix in a few creative translations, stir it with medieval imagination, and boomâHell becomes the ultimate threat.
Perfect for keeping people afraid to step out of line, question doctrine, or follow their own soulâs knowing.
đ„ Hell Keeps the Machine Running
Letâs be real. If you remove the threat of eternal punishmentâŠ
Whatâs stopping people from walking away from the Church?
Whatâs stopping them from asking, âHey, why does this whole thing feel like a guilt trip with a tithe?â
Fear keeps the seats full.
Fear keeps the questions quiet.
Fear turns God into a warden and religion into a prison.
But hereâs the kicker: Love doesnât need Hell to motivate you.
đ What If Thereâs No Eternal Fire Waiting?
What ifâstay with me hereâ
your soul isnât some fragile thing Godâs just waiting to toss into a pit?
What if the real âHellâ is living a life chained by fear, shame, and lies about who you are?
Because hereâs what I believe:
The Divine doesnât need scare tactics.
Love never threatens.
And if God is love, then eternal torture was never part of the plan.
So next time someone tells you to get right with God âor else,â
Ask them this:
Do you follow because you love⊠or because youâre scared?
Because that answer?
Thatâs where the truth lives.

Again⊠wow, I think I follow or tried to follow, or was afraid to give up on the idea ALL OF THESE YEARS out of FEAR, not love.
