Is the Kingdom a Place or a State of Mind? Let’s Talk.
I recently received a comment on TikTok that stopped me in my tracks. It was full of the “big” questions: Is the Devil real? Did Jesus fix our “sin nature”? Is the Bible a tool for control?
If you’ve been feeling like the Sunday School version of spirituality doesn’t quite fit anymore, you aren’t alone. Let’s look at the “Children’s Version” of the Gospel that they didn’t teach us in church.
1. The Devil vs. The Ego
GingerBrooke asked if Satan is just our “inner voice or ego.” In the ancient Nag Hammadi texts—scriptures like the Gospel of Philip—the “adversary” isn’t a red guy with a pitchfork. Instead, it’s the illusion of separation.
When we live purely in our ego, we feel alone, scared, and competitive. That “fall from grace”? It’s simply falling from the awareness that you are connected to the Divine. You didn’t “fall” into a pit; you fell into a deep sleep.
2. The Kingdom is an “Inside Job”
The most famous line in the Bible that people often breeze over is Luke 17:21: “The kingdom of God is within you.” Early church councils (like the Council of Nicaea) shifted the focus away from this. Why? Because if the Kingdom is inside you, you don’t need a middleman. You don’t need a building, a tax, or a specific ritual to talk to the Creator. Yeshua wasn’t trying to start a religion; he was trying to start an awakening. He wanted you to realize that you are a divine being having a human experience.
3. Was the Bible “Put in Place” to Control Us?
This is a heavy one. The Bible contains beautiful, inspired truths, but we have to remember who compiled it. In 325 CE, Emperor Constantine and religious leaders decided which books stayed and which books—like the Gospel of Thomas—were banned.
They favored texts that emphasized external authority and “sin nature” because people who believe they are “born bad” are much easier to lead than people who know they are “born Divine.”
4. The 2nd Coming: Event or Evolution?
Is the 2nd coming something we wait for, or is it when we “die”?
Think of it this way: The “Christ Consciousness” isn’t a person coming back in the clouds; it’s that same “Anointing” waking up inside you. When you stop looking at the sky and start looking in the mirror, that’s the 2nd coming. It’s the return of the Divine Mind to humanity.
The Bottom Line
GingerBrooke, to answer your question: You aren’t a sinner in need of a rescue. You are a divine spark that forgot its source. Yeshua’s “atonement” wasn’t a legal transaction to pay off a debt; it was a demonstration of how to live as a fully realized human.
Religion is about rules. Spirituality is about remembrance.

So thankful you drove into learning all you could and are sharing it with us
